How to Set up a Mabon Altar

Mabon,  is the Autumn Equinox. The Autumn Equinox divides the day and night equally, and we all take a moment to pay our respects to the impending dark. for there can be no Light without Darkness so we must embrace both light and dark, The Druids call this celebration, Mea'n Fo'mhair, and honor the The Green Man, the God of the Forest, by offering gifts to trees.

to set up a Mabon Altar is not expensive or Hard
a Basic Altar  is just a Table  size does not matter
Candles    Red, Gold, Brown,  Orange    Size of Candle does not matter   I use  votive candles
 Pine cones
Nuts  All Types
Apples  all Types
Pumpkins/ Squash
Grapes / Wine
Indian Corn
Statue or Symbol of your Deity  as everyone is Different   use the symbols and deity  you are most comfortable with.
a Cauldron
Leaves,  Twigs/ branches
Feathers (   Note make sure they are not from Endangered Birds  )
Symbol of  Male  such as  a Claw or Bone or Phallic symbol
Incense  best kind is   Autumn Blends-Cinnamon ,benzoin, Apple,  myrrh, and sage.

Set up your Altar  keep your Bread  on the Right side  this symbolizes the Life force as Bread is Life
keep your nuts which symbolize the Soul or Ki  next to the bread
Fruit should go on the middle or the left  this symbolizes the Female  life energy

Some people like to spell out symbols with the fruit and nuts to each his or her own

The Keys are Vadora's and they represent  Hecate Doorway  as she Guards the Gates to  the next world

Remember this is no Wrong way to do this you can set them up anyway you want
all that truly matters is  your intention and your energy you put into it

now foods that would spoil such as Grapes save that for the Day of Mabon
other fruits like Apples  keep them away from other fruits for Apples give off a gas that can make food spoil or ripen quickly  After you are done with your altar  light the candles and say a Blessing or prayer.of your choice,

a Simple Offering is  make some bread ( this is your offering )
Light a candle  and  say  the following

Lord and Lady (  insert name )  I thank you, I welcome you
Bless and honor my home with your presence
We have so much before us as we look to our past  year
and see how we are thankful.
Lord and Lady  ( insert name)  I thank you for your blessings this year  and for this we are thankful.
I offer this  ( Hold up  Bread )  to you  ( hold hands up over head )
For all that is bad, there is good.
For all that falls, there is the chance to rise again.
May we find balance in our lives
as we find it in our hearts.
to the  Lord and Lady   ( Insert name ) who watch over us,
I make this offering to you, my Body is thy Vessel
( Consume the bread with Sip of Wine  )
                     Meditate a moment
I thank you for your Wisdom and Strength  Lord ( insert name )
I thank you for your Love and Passion Goddess ( Insert name )

Let everyone be  blessed as we are this day.

Burn Candles and Incense  leave your offerings  on your Altar,  then after 24 hours  take the offering outside to place of nature and  offer it to animals such as birds or Squirrels or other animals.
